Program Participants Gain Education, Experience and Lifelong Skills
Every year, Crawford & Company’s global executive management team selects individuals who have shown great potential through their work contributions, skills and leadership abilities to attend the Emerging Leaders Program at the Atlanta Support Center. From Oct. 4-9, 2015, 27 participants representing various Crawford businesses and global locations completed the invitation-only training course.
This intensive, weeklong class is designed to further develop participants’ strategic thinking and overall understanding of Crawford’s operations. Participants are immersed in presentations and workshops designed to enhance their management skills, expand their business acumen, and gain a more holistic view of Crawford.
“I found the content invaluable and the opportunity for both networking and professional development equally rewarding,” said Roberto McQuattie, interim country manager of Mexico, who partook in the leadership course. “I hope programs like these continue to be a part of Crawford, as it will help break the proverbial silos and make us a better company.”
In addition to attending presentations from several business unit global leadership team members, participants received training in financial management and leadership development. They also received an individual assessment and feedback session.
Each person was assigned to a team that researched and developed recommended solutions to real-world corporate challenges that include growing new business, improving cost-efficiency, and hiring and retaining quality personnel.
The training program wasn’t all work and no play, however. Attendees—14 of whom were from outside the U.S.—participated in a scavenger hunt at Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta, giving them time to bond, sightsee, and collaborate on something fun.
For the program’s grand finale, each of the four teams presented their findings and solutions, in a toned-down, friendlier Shark Tank-esque panel that included members of the global executive management team. (ABC’s Shark Tank is a popular reality television show featuring people who try and turn their entrepreneurial dreams into realities by convincing millionaires to invest in their business endeavors.) Each leadership team was evaluated in areas that included presentation and content. Interim President and CEO Harsha Agadi then presented program participants with their certificates of completion.
“Every year, we broaden this program to make it bigger and better than before,” said Nidhi Verma, director of talent management and program overseer. “We constantly try to align the program to the needs and priorities of Crawford.”
Program participant Paul Ritchie, national account director, London, said, “It was a week I will certainly remember for the rest of my life.”
Congratulations to Crawford’s 2016 Emerging Leaders class!
