Ready to donate

Congratulations to Crawford Canada’s Greg Thierman, a branch manager in Kelowna, British Columbia, on his 100th donation to the Canadian Blood Services (CBS) as part of the program Crawford and Canadian Blood Services – Partners for Life. In honor of this amazing accomplishment, Crawford Canada’s GREENSHIFT has named him an Eco-Hero!

In 2009 a number of Canadian employees helped initiate Project Green, designed to minimize Crawford’s impact on the environment and reduce corporate expenses by maximizing resources. In its first year Project Green saved Crawford more than $20,000 and completed 17 initiatives. In 2012 members of the “green team” were rejuvenated as GREENSHIFT, with the goal of shifting the way Crawford Canada and its employees think about sustainability. Its vision and mission are to create a healthy, sustainable environment and inspire environmental consciousness.

The Kelowna branch celebrated by surprising Greg with a cake and 100 red balloons before his milestone donation on Monday, March 2nd at the local CBS branch. Greg’s commitment to CBS serves as an inspiration for Crawford employees to give what they can in support of a good cause (what better item to recycle than your own blood?!).

Greg has also been a longtime supporter of other Crawford Cares community support initiatives, including Relay for Life (the Relay for Life is for the Canadian Cancer Society partnering with WICC – Women in Insurance Crusade against Cancer). For several years Greg raised money by participating in the “Fro must Go” campaign and shaving his head. Thanks for all you do, Greg!
