The annual tradition of making New Year’s resolutions has deep roots. In ancient Babylon, resolvers promised to return borrowed objects and pay their debts at the start of each year.
In the Medieval era, the knights took the “peacock vow” at the end of each Christmas season, reaffirming their commitment to chivalry. And the ancient Romans began each year by making promises to the god Janus, for whom the month of January was named and who was known as the god of beginnings.
We asked our Facebook fans if they were making any New Year’s resolutions. Here are some of the answers we got.
Bob Heirtzler: Continue to maintain a positive attitude! Also, have a perfect attendance for 2013 and be a better person in all that I do!
Christine McCauley: To find peace in all aspects of my life, and to be more optimistic.
Robby Robinson: My resolution for 2013 is to handle every inspection as if it was my mother’s. I am aware that in the vast majority of CAT claims, I will be the ONLY person the insured ever sees from their insurance carrier. With that, how the insured views me is how they will view the carrier and the industry as a whole.
Claire Anderson: Not worrying about what will be…..just enjoying life and trying to ignore all the negativity.
Liz Workman Miller: To continue to pursue my photography, felting and learning more about playing the dulcimer.
